Don’t ask the one who’s pushing, by Lynda Hall

My body may not function the way it should do,

But I have to tell you people that I’m just the same as you.

My brain is still working – I hear and I can see,

So don’t ask the one who’s pushing if I want a cup of tea.

I may be in a wheelchair but I still lead an active life,

as a mother to my children, a lover and a wife.

All I really want for myself is a measure of dignity

so that when you ask I’ll tell you if I want a cup of tea.
